BRING THE SYMPHONY TO YOUR SCHOOL!
THE MUSIC BOX IS ON THE ROLL
The SWFL Symphony’s portable classroom visit will feature:
- A personalized music presentation geared toward 4th & 5th graders
- Hands-on sample instruments from the Orchestra
- Interactive lessons about Symphonic Music with clips of music from our portable Boom-box “The Music Owl”
- Demonstrations from professional musicians when possible
- Educational hand-outs and giveaways
We will park our Music Box outside your school and invite students to be with us outdoors as we listen to music, check out the instruments, and learn how to appreciate the style and beauty of symphonic music.

The Southwest Florida Symphony is rolling out its newest addition to music education with The Music Box.
The ‘box truck’ will serve as a portable classroom for school visits and community events. We will bring instruments for students to see and touch, offer interactive lessons about symphonic music, and entertain participants with games, giveaways and demonstrations from professional musicians.
The Music Box is designed to provide an informal, outdoor setting for music education. The truck itself is actually part of the fun! An over-sized photo of the orchestra is part of a “find the instrument” game, and even the tailgate is painted like piano keys for students to identify the notes.
Generous grants from the Claiborne and Ned Foulds Foundation and Sam Galloway Ford have given the symphony even more opportunity to reach out to young people and community members this season.
